Further information on talk by Lester Hicks on 25 March 2010   Waste management is a contentious issue everywhere and, although we all generate waste either personally or through the goods and services we consume, no one wants waste to be managed anywhere near where they live.   Lester Hicks was responsible for national planning policy on waste from 1997-2007 when in the Department for Communities and Local Government and its predecessors.
